Meet Lizzie

Lizzie is a counsellor registered with the Australian Counselling Association. Originally from Cornwall, she has always felt a strong connection with the natural world. After travelling extensively, she settled in Australia 26 years ago and has called Cairns home for the past 15 years.

A former nurse and teacher, Lizzie brings a practical, grounded and compassionate approach to her work, with a particular focus on supporting women through life’s transitions.

Her counselling style is warm, collaborative and person-centred. She walks alongside each client rather than directing the process, listening with curiosity and without judgement. She creates a relaxed environment where clients can feel heard, explore what matters to them and move towards change at a pace that feels right.

About Arden Counselling

Arden Counselling takes its name from the Cornish word for forest or woodland, evoking Shakespeare’s Forest of Arden in 'As You Like It', a place of magic, freedom, exploration and growth.

This idea sits at the heart of Arden: offering a warm, welcoming space where you can arrive just as you are.

Arden offers nature-based counselling, bringing therapy outdoors and allowing nature to become part of the experience. Whether walking through parklands, along the beach or sitting beside a rainforest creek, the natural environment offers a different setting for counselling, one that can feel open, relaxed and grounding.

Sessions are personalised and guided by what feels right for you. Conversations can unfold naturally, with room to consider new perspectives, gently challenge patterns and make sense of what you’re experiencing.

Support is available through emotional wellbeing challenges, difficult patterns or habits, life and career setbacks, unhelpful beliefs about yourself, trauma, past experiences, grief and loss.

You don’t need to have everything figured out before you begin. Come as you are, and take the time you need.
